Moving in Faith
Moving in Faith: Where God Guides, God Provides
Worship Guide.
One of the ways that we have seen God's faithfulness throughout the story of CUMC is in God's provision. Whether it was in the initial Co-Lab experience where participants realized that the gifts given to each congregation when combined would make the whole greater than the parts, or in the right people at the right time for every step of the planning, visioning and building process or whether it is in music ministry, community outreach, finances, woodworkers to build the cross in the sanctuary, etc.
Where God guides, God provides. If God leads you to it, God will lead you through it.
God's provision of exactly what we need is a them of the book of Exodus. Sometimes it was because God provided something that the people did not have. Sometimes it was something just as miraculous, God helped them to see that everything they needed was already in their hand. This could be called the MacGyver Principle of Faith.
Two stories illustrate this - First Moses with his doubts is asked by God - what is in your hand? He then is commanded to release the staff and find what he needed was already in his hand. The second story is from the building of the Tabernacle. When Moses asks people to bring gifts as God moves their hearts they bring so many gifts that the artisans come to Moses and ask him to tell them to stop!
What if we have already been given everything we need? What's in your hand? Ask God what it is that is in your hand (gifts, talents, and treasures) as you pray, "Lord, what do you want to do through me?"
