Hope 2020
Hope: Do Not Be Afraid
Hope keeps looking forward when we stay curious and when we believe that God will show up in surprising ways. The Good news in the Christmas story almost always comes as a surprise. A surprise is news from a direction we didn't expect, a person we didn't expect, or a circumstance we never anticipated. The Gospel of Luke gives us three surprise encounters announced by angels. The shepherds, Mary, and Zechariah. Of the three it is Mary and the shepherds who manage to stay curious and open to the good news and Zechariah who seems fearful and closed. Our salvation often comes when we least expect it and from places we didn't anticipate and it starts when we manage our fear, stay curious, and believe that sometimes the good news comes to us, but isn't just for us. Stay curious, celebrate the joy, and believe that God's best strategy to change the world begins with you.

December 6-20, 2020 Sunday Sermon Series
This year's Advent season will be like none before. One of the most challenging parts of 2020 was holding on to hope as we came to grips with the face that, as humans, we can't control or manage everything in life. This Advent, we will go on a journey to see with fresh eyes how the coming of Christ, Emmanuel, gives us strength for the present AND hope for the future.
